A large share of this work starts with a nameplate photograph and a plant that cannot be shut down for civil work. The requirement is rarely a better machine — it is the same machine, available now, that bolts onto what is already there.

Eighteen entries in this prototype. A production cross-reference table is engineering data — it has to be authored and maintained by Electromash engineers, not inferred by a supplier from catalogue dimensions.

What makes a replacement enquiry answerable

    A legible nameplate photograph

    Rating, voltage, speed, frame and — on hazardous-area machines — the certificate reference. If the plate is unreadable, a photograph of the machine in situ with a scale reference is a workable start.

    Four dimensions

    Shaft height, foundation bolt centres in both axes, shaft diameter and shaft extension length. These determine whether a standard frame fits or an adapter is needed.

    How it is coupled

    Direct, belt or gearbox. A belt drive loads the shaft radially in a way a direct coupling does not, which changes the bearing selection.

  • 04

    The area classification, if any

    A machine replacing an Ex unit has to carry a marking valid for the zone as currently classified — not the marking the old machine carried.

Honesty about limits

What a replacement search cannot do

Equivalence is engineering data
A cross-reference table cannot be inferred from published dimensions. Each row is a judgement by an engineer who knows both machines, and it carries liability. On a production site, every row here would have to be authored and signed off by Electromash engineering.
Certification does not transfer
A machine replacing an Ex unit certified under a former national scheme cannot inherit that certification. It has to carry a marking valid under the scheme applicable in the country of installation today.
Mechanical constraints come first
Most replacement projects are decided by foundation bolt centres and shaft height, not by electrical rating. A machine that is electrically perfect and mechanically wrong is not a candidate.
